More About me

Too much of a policy wonk to thrive in retail politics, I nevertheless made the attempt. For 15 years, I worked on several campaigns (two of which I managed), attended innumerable conventions, cold-called people for money, ran for public office, blah, blah, blah. After a particularly brutal and mind-warping experience (metaphorically nuclear weapons were used in a street fight), I dropped out. But I have continued to closely follow politics.

I also served a 30-year sentence in Purgatory as a lawyer. It rarely was rewarding, though it paid the bills.

I always wanted to be a writer, and regularly dabbled in it. When I was diagnosed with a chronic disease, knowing at some point it would end my legal career, I got serious.

I attended over a dozen in-person writing classes. Joined a writer’s group on the internet. Bicycled across Iowa 11 years in a row with multiple sclerosis. Then wrote several short stories about my experience, juicing the stories up with imaginary romances. I also completed two novels. The first had a good opening chapter. Covid-19 rendered the second, better novel, obsolete. I began writing Pig Farm Down the Rabbit Hole, a novella, when Covid-19 began to spread.
